Your first project as an OSINT researcher should be to Go OSINT Yourself.

See how much data you can gather about yourself.

You should do this on you instead of someone else first for several reasons.

Here's what you do first:

  1. Set up a secure way to search for info about yourself.  The best way is to use an OSINT Operating System such as TAILS - or a Virtual Machine running Kali Linux.
  2. Once your secure environment is running, install Spiderfoot, Maltego, and other top OSINT apps.
  3. Then record as much of the info as you can - or immediately start taking the info down.  Delete unused / old accounts, anonymize your info, change passwords, and do whatever you can to make an attacker's journey more difficult (and hopefully impossible).
